We celebrate Memorial Day to recognize our brave men and women who gave up their lives for their country. But we should also include fallen police officers and firefighters in that group.
It’s true that these fallen heroes did not lose their lives in defense of our country but it is also true that they sacrificed their lives protecting our freedoms – the freedom to live our lives in safety.
I for one will think of them as I observe Memorial Day.
